Lancaster, PA – Epoxy Garage Floor Coatings. Protect your concrete from day 1
The 900+ square feet took only 1 1/2 days for our crew to complete. Day one did not provide any challenges. The concrete was easy to profile with our planetary diamond grinders (which weight between 250 and 700 pounds depending up the model used). The homeowners did not want us to fill the saw cuts (joints). They also did not want us to coat the aprons (concrete beyond the garage doors).
The only challenge for this garage was coating around the drainage system. This home has a trench style drain running the greater length of the garage near the 3 bay doors (see image below).
Coatings were not applied to the drain grids, as they were constructed of a type of plastic which coatings will not properly bond.
Trench drains typically have drain grids that cannot be coated.
Small, round drains with a PVC frame and drain cap can be coated after the PVC is scuffed.
While metal drain frames and caps can be coated, the metal will often rust below the coatings and discolor (and later disbond) due to the rust buildup.
