FAQs & Helpful Reminders

This page contains Frequently Asked Questions about BEFORE, DURING and AFTER installation of our floor coatings.  The answers are designed to assist our new customers.

We strongly recommend reading down through all of the FAQs.  Afterwards, if you still have questions, please reach out to your salesperson.

BEFORE INSTALLATION

Will I hear from STRONGHOLD FLOORS prior to my assigned installation dates?

At 10, 6 and 2 days before your floor coatings installation begins, you will recive an email and a text (or call if we don’t know if we have a mobile phone number).  The emails will come from your salesperson.  You can easily reply to the emails with any questions you may have.

Text messages will come from 717-775-6406, which is an automated system.  Please do not reply.  Your salesperson will not see the reply.

Will my installation dates change?

Your installation dates will only change if something happens outside of our control (snowstorm, severe thunderstorms, ice storms, etc.).  Most weather conditions do not interrupt or impact our work.

If a delay is required, we will try every means at our disposal (phone call, email, text) to communicate the delay as soon as possible.

We complete 500+ jobs per year and usually have to delay on 2 or 3 jobs in the entire year.

Who do I contact if I have questions regarding my upcoming installation?

Contact your salesperson via phone call or email. If you must text our sales team, please identify yourself in the first message.

Will I receive a final invoice?

Yes, a final invoice will be emailed to you the week of your installation. Please note, unless you have requested any changes since signing the contract, your final balance amount is also present on the contract. If you are mailing in the final balance, the contract has our mailing address in the upper, left-hand corner.

What time will the crew arrive?

We do not assign specific crew arrival times. The crews arrival may be impacted by traffic, weather or other conditions beyond our control.

Do I have to be home during the install of my floor coatings?

As long as our crew can access the area receiving coatings, no one needs to be present for most installations – basements in occupied homes are sometimes an exception.

As we noted in the question above, we do not assign specific arrival times for our crews. If you or your designated person wishes to be on premise during our installation, please plan accordingly.

Do I have to remove all items from the project area?

The customer is responsible for removing all items from the floor receiving coatings. Our crews will not move items from the project area and installation may be delayed – in which case penalties outlined in our contract may apply.

Items on walls and shelves of project area should be removed if the items are sensitive to dust, may hamper our installation or present a safety concern for our crews. Items left inside the project area should be covered, if they cannot be removed, to protect those items from dust that may become airborne during the surface preparation or from media (chips, quartz, sand) broadcast into the coatings.

STRONGHOLD FLOORS and its employees are not responsible for providing power to any appliances removed from the project area.

Will the install crew help move my personal items?

Our crews are not permitted to move personal items from the project area, as our insurance carrier will not allow this activity. Please do not ask our crews to violate company policy.

The project area must be ready on the first day of coatings installation, prior to our crews arrival. Please plan accordingly.

STRONGHOLD FLOORS and its employees are not responsible for providing power to any appliances removed from the project area.

What if bad weather is predicted on the scheduled dates of my installation?

Most weather conditions do not interrupt or impact our work.

Your installation dates will only change if the weather will impact the final results or the project area cannot be protected adequately – such as porches, patios and other non-enclosed concrete slabs.

STRONGHOLD FLOORS: The Strongest Name in Garage Floor Coatings

When can I paint the walls before the new coatings are installed?

All painting in the coatings area must be completed at least 72 hours prior to the first day of coatings installation. Otherwise the paint, while feeling dry to the touch, may be tacky enough to attract dust or media from the concrete’s preparation and coatings installation.

Will there be dust during and after my project is complete?

While we utilize industrial vacuum systems and shrouded grinding equipment, dust may be present after installation. Soft concrete and/or wavy floors may allow dust to get past our equipment and settle inside the project area.

Contents impacted by dust should be removed or fully protected prior to our crew’s arrival. Our teams are not responsible for removing or protecting items in the coatings area, nor for any damage to project area contents occurring from dust exposure.

Should I wash my floor before the crew arrives?

No, washing the floor is not necessary and may negatively impact the start of the project. The area receiving coatings need only be free of contents and swept to remove any large debris.

DURING INSTALLATION

May I ask the install team to do additional work or change my scheduled work?

Any changes, including additions or deletions to the scope of work must be arranged through your salesperson. Normally, requests must occur at least 3 business days prior to the first day of installation to allow time to procure additional materials.

Even with 3-days’ notice, STRONGHOLD FLOORS may not be able to accommodate additions to the scope of work.

May I give the final payment to the install crew?

No. Nothing may be given to our installation crews. Final payment to be mailed to our HQ address or made electronically via ACH – 2231 S Market Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.

The crew does not have the ability to provide a receipt or take payment by credit card.

Who do I contact if I have questions regarding my ongoing coatings project?

Contact your salesperson via phone call or email. If you must text our sales team, please identify yourself in the first message.

Can I walk in the project area during the installation?

Per our contract, we need all non-STRONGHOLD FLOORS personnel to remain out of the coatings area from the first arrival of our crews until after the required curing time of the coatings.

It is essential for the safety of our crews and everyone else, that all other persons and pets stay out of the coatings area and away from our vehicles and equipment.

Can I open doors into the coatings area during the installation?

Please do not open any closed doors into the project area until after coatings installation is complete.

Keep in mind that odors from the coatings may still be present in the project area and opening doors into the coatings area may allow these odors into other areas of the building.
